The Conference Planning Committee is pleased to welcome you to the 2023 AEESP Research and Education Conference in Boston, MA in June 2023, hosted by Northeastern University jointly with a large team of universities in New England including University of Massachusetts-Amherst, University of Massachusetts-Boston, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts University, University of Connecticut, University of Maine, University of New Hampshire, and University of Rhode Island. Conference activities will be held Tuesday, June 20 through Friday, June 23, 2023.

The conference theme, “Responding Together to Global Challenges”, reflects the many contributions environmental scientists and engineers are making to address several concerning global, historical, and emerging challenges to living in a health, safe, and just society.  The technical program will highlight responses to specific challenges of a changing climate, emerging environmental quality and human health threats, aging infrastructure and networks, marginalization of communities, and evolving education demands.

The conference schedule will include the conventional and highly sought-after workshops and technical presentations.  Students, postdocs, and faculty will also find organized opportunities for networking, career development, and community outreach.  Unique elements of this year’s conference include a career fair and outreach activities on Conference Day 1, a gala dinner on Day 2 at the New England Aquarium, and a series of field trips in and around Boston on Friday June 23 to round out the week!  More details on conference events will be posted in the coming weeks.

The workshop program has been finalized (read more HERE), and the Science Committee has completed review of nearly 700 abstract submissions (!) with responses to authors sent out mid-March.  Registration is now openIn the Registration Portal you will find options for selecting workshops and field trips as well as social events (such as the student mixer, the faculty mixer, and the gala dinner), and reserving housing in the Northeastern dormitories.  Early bird pricing closes May 5 – we are looking forward to seeing all of you soon!

Alongside registration, travel support grants will be available to assist students and young career scientists who may otherwise have difficulty attending the event.  Please see the Registration page for more information on how to apply – application deadline is April 14!
